Does This Look Like The Face of a Guy Who Stole $342 Worth of Cat Food to Sell It to a Friend Who Has a Bazillion Cats?

Pinellas County, Florida -- A man stole a large amount of cat food from Walmart that he said he planned to sell to his friend with 300 cats.
Officers responded to the Walmart on Us Highway 19 North in Clearwater to investigate a shoplifting case involving cat food. Loss prevention staff had detained James Lawlor for loading up a shopping cart full of cat food and then walking to his car without paying.
Lawlor explained to officers that he had done this in the past and that he steals the cat food to sell in what he calls "hustling." Lawlor also said he has a friend with 300 cats and he sells the food to him and others. Lawlor was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County jail charged with one count of Grand Theft.

Ahh Florida. Beautiful girls in bikinis, great weather when the rest of the world is facing a desolate winter, our great tourist locations to spend time with friends and family. Oh and whats that? O yes, the occasional Wal-Mart story that makes us look a lawless society.

Now I'm not a tough guy street thug but I have to imagine stealing cat food from Wal-Mart to "hustle" to your buddy with 300 cats is quite low on the thug life totem pole. Kinda sad that this guy even got caught cause I'll tell you what, I honestly, If I saw this go down, wouldn't even realize he stole copious amounts of cat food. Its such a mad house at Wal-Mart that some one can probably can steal things in a blink of an eye. There's so many kids crying and people running around and shopping carts squeaking that it takes some serious focus on one man to actually observe a guy walk out with a mountain of Fancy Feast without assuming he didn't pay. Whatever man, that's just the thug life I guess.
P.s. Your friend with 300 cats is a loser.

  1. HaHa. Thanks for this. Seriously how did he steal so much cat food? Oh wait, he got caught. I am curious to know who in the world has 300 cats thats buying stolen cat food for probably a much lower price than retail. What a strange story. It is definitely stories like this and movie theater shoot-outs that give Florida a bad rep. Your blog is a great way to keep locals and transplants interested and involved in whats going on in Florida. -Michelle

  2. Okay, I seriously laughed at "quite low on the thug life totem pole."
But I seriously agree. That kid looks like he should be pre-ordering the new Call of Duty at his local GameStop, not stealing cat food. Also, his eyebrow game is weak.
Anyway, as a complete newcomer to Florida, you are definitely my go-to man for all the crazy news regarding this crazy state. Keep up the good work!

  3. This was great ! Good laugh I needed it . I don't understand why you would even attempt to steal for someone else's cat and not even be guaranteed a sell ! I mean come on ! Being in Florida for a few years , Ive seen people arrested for stealing things like toilet paper , water bottles , and even bombom lipgloss , but freaking cat food . You look any cool points in this world , and if he didn't have any he's most definitely in the negatives now ! Anyways , awesome selection , I would've never found this haha . - Yana
